P.C.P.O.A. Fall Social and Business Meeting 10/29/2005
The Fall Social was held at the home of Bruce and Cheryne Philipoom on Saturday 10/29/05. The event began at 3:00pm and there were 45 people in attendance. The association provided the main entrée (First Choice BBQ) and soft drinks and everyone brought a side dish, dessert, or appetizer. Everyone enjoyed the event and plenty of visiting was done by all.
The P.C.P.O.A. Business Meeting was called to order at 5:00pm by Brad Redwine. Bruce Philipoom presided and the following subjects were covered:
Treasurers’ Report : Joan Gardner presented a report as of 10/29/05 reflecting a bank balance of $7106.37. Current 2005 membership stands at 46 which is the largest number of members since anyone can remember.
Special Lighting District (SLD): Brad Redwine reported that Steve and Susan Daily had completed the petition process for the SLD for the initial section of Pemberton Creek and had obtained approving signatures from all but one of the property owners. The completed petition was hand delivered to Mr. Messersmith of the Dept.of Public Works Hillsborough County by Gene Gardner on 9/19/05. The county must now verify that the petition contains the necessary majority of signatures and all requirements have been met. The petitioned SLD will be placed on the February 2006 schedule for a public hearing to establish the new street lighting district. Lights should be installed sometime in 2006.
Dues for 2006: A motion was made to keep the dues at $100.00 per year. There was a second and all present were asked to affirm the motion. All present voted to keep the dues at $100.00 for 2006.
Traffic Calming: Bruce P. reported that he had contacted the county about neighborhood traffic control. The county provided information and a petition for a request to do a traffic study to determining if there is a problem and if so what the solutions are. It was decided that anyone interested would sign the petition and Bruce would follow up with the county.
Heavy Rain Event in August: Brad R. spoke about the heavy rain event in August ( 8 inches ) which caused street flooding and several retention ponds to completely fill up and cover the outflow culverts. The “original” Pemberton Creek was completely full and flowing over the street at the intersection of Pemberton Creek Drive and Pemberton Oaks Ct. Baker Creek was handling the excess water from the ponds, however the ponds at the Redwines and the Powells were grossly overfilled. The thinking is that there is additional water coming into/thru the neighborhood from the new subdivision, Pemberton Oaks, as many of the lots are below street grade and do not drain into the retention ponds in that neighborhood. Gene Gardner reported that the county has been contacted and is reviewing the situation.
Board Members for 2006: Gene Gardner and Cathy Mitseas expressed an interest in joining the board in 2006. It was decided that the current board would call a meeting and all could discuss who would do what in 2006.
The business meeting adjourned at 6:00pm
